Homeless

Youth experiencing homelessness can enroll in school even if they have uncertain housing, a temporary address or no permanent physical address. They are guaranteed enrollment in school by the federal McKinney-Vento Act and California state law.

The McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Assistance Act is Title X, Part C of the No Child Left Behind Act. It ensures children and youth experiencing homelessness have full and equal access to appropriate public education and protects their rights.
